Ebook PDFs and Digital Rights Management (DRM)
Sell ebooks, safely. That's what Continew does for your company. Continew reduces customer support needs by letting you sell simple PDF files, whilst the personalized files give you and your clients peace of mind with their embedded links and licence details.
We recognize that the most common form of ebooks is the Acrobat PDF file. Usable on all computers, many mobile platforms and major ebook reading devices, we have paid particular attention to the management of PDF files. PDFs maybe imported and managed using simple tools, and are uniquely marked with your branding.
Continew uses a technique known as steganography (hidden writing) to embed your customers' information deep inside their PDF files. The same information is embedded on the branded front page, along with metadata and links back to your website. No plug-ins are required to open our files, which are entirely compatable with current versions of Acrobat Reader, the free software available from Adobe.
Mindful of the need to be able to protect your content, each download is recorded by the site - and a maximum number may be set to prevent repetitive downloading. Despite this, users are not required to register on your site in order to buy.
Should you choose to have PDF extracts freely available on your site (and we recommend it, as these will encourage search engine traffic), these will contain links back to the purchasing page, ensuring that your potential customers have an immediate reference point.
Downloaded ebook PDFs are created and personalized with the buyer's email, licence / invoice number and licence summary
Any other file format may be sold on the site, but the water-marking technique is not currently available to them.
For maximum content security, it is possible to embed your content, databases etc, within Continew's full-text module.
